CPCT (Computer Proficiency Certification Test) is conducted by MAP_IT for the Government of Madhya Pradesh. A CPCT score card is mandatory for most MP state clerical and data-entry jobs, and many MP High Court posts prefer CPCT certificate holders. The test has an objective computer-knowledge section and a typing skill section.
Typing standard and formula
You need 30 WPM net speed in English or 25 WPM net speed in Hindi, in a 15-minute typing test. CPCT uses a net-speed formula:
Net WPM = (Total characters ÷ 5 − Errors) ÷ 15
Backspace is disabled. You cannot correct mistakes, so accuracy on the first pass is everything. Aim for a gross speed of 38–40 WPM so that even after error deductions your net speed stays above 30.
Hindi font
For Hindi typing, CPCT uses the Remington Gail layout (with Mangal). If you're taking the Hindi test, practise that specific layout — it differs from Inscript.
How to prepare
Target 38–40 WPM gross so net speed clears 30 after deductions.
Practise with backspace disabled — build first-pass accuracy.
Hindi candidates: drill the Remington Gail layout.
Take full 15-minute mocks to build stamina and consistency.
