The Supreme Court of India (SCI) recruits Court Masters, Senior Personal Assistants, Personal Assistants and Junior Court Assistants (JCA) through a process that includes a typing test. Unlike SSC and RRB, the SCI typing test is usually marks-bearing โ your typing score contributes to your rank, so going beyond the minimum speed genuinely helps.

Passage length is roughly 1,900โ2,000 keystrokes for CM/SPA/PA, and about 1,750 keystrokes for JCA. Court Master, Senior PA and PA also have a separate shorthand test.
Accuracy is non-negotiable. A 2โ3% error margin means only a handful of mistakes across the whole passage. One careless line can cost you the test even at high speed.
Legal vocabulary
Court passages use legal language and Latin phrases โ prima facie, suo motu, habeas corpus, mandamus, ex parte. Unfamiliarity causes hesitation and errors, so practise with formal, legal-style passages until those terms feel routine.
How to prepare for court typing
Push speed above the minimum โ since marks count, 45+ WPM practice pays off for PA/CM and 40+ for JCA.
Drill accuracy to 97%+ โ the error margin is the real filter.
Learn the legal vocabulary so complex words don't break your rhythm.
Confirm the font in the notification before you practise Hindi (it varies by court).
Use the practice tool above โ the Supreme Court presets load the JCA and PA speed targets with tight error limits so you train against the real bar.
