Clerk posts in the subordinate courts of Punjab, Haryana and U.T. Chandigarh are recruited by the Society for Centralized Recruitment of Staff in Subordinate Courts (SSSC) under the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The selection runs: Computer-Based Test (merit) → Computer Proficiency Test (qualifying) → Document Verification. The final merit is built from the CBT only.
The Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)
The CPT has two qualifying parts:
Word Processing (typing) — you type a printed passage on the computer.
Spreadsheet — a basic practical test; you usually must clear a minimum here before the typing part is even evaluated.
Typing speed and error rule
The required minimum is 30 WPM in English over a 10-minute word-processing test. You must keep mistakes within 10% — exceed that and you do not qualify. A practical speed formula used in evaluation is:
Typing speed = (words typed − mistakes) ÷ 10 minutes. So accuracy directly raises your effective speed, not just your error count.
In some cycles Punjabi typing is also assessed and an accuracy around 92% is expected, so check your specific notification.
How to qualify
Train to 40 WPM so the 30 WPM bar is comfortable under exam pressure.
Keep errors well under 10% — ideally below 5%, since mistakes subtract directly from your speed.
Don't ignore the spreadsheet part — learn basic operations, because failing it can block your typing evaluation.
The practice tool above loads the P&H Court preset at 30 WPM with the 10% cap so you can rehearse the real bar.
