This guide covers the Clerk recruitment in the Subordinate Courts of Haryana, conducted by the SSSC (Society for Centralized Recruitment of Staff in Subordinate Courts) under the Punjab & Haryana High Court, through Advertisement No. 36C/SSSC/HR/2026. The selection ends with a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) that you must clear to remain eligible.
1. Required typing speed
You must qualify the English Computer Typing Test at 30 WPM net speed. The official notification uses this calculation:
Net WPM = (Words Typed − Mistakes) ÷ 10
Your net result must be at least 30. Here is how mistakes pull your score down:
| Words typed | Mistakes | Net score | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 | 0 | 30 WPM | Qualifies |
| 310 | 10 | 30 WPM | Qualifies |
| 320 | 20 | 30 WPM | Qualifies |
| 330 | 31 | 29.9 WPM | Does not qualify |
Safe target: practise for at least 35–38 WPM net speed, not just 30. The cushion protects you against pressure and small errors on test day.
2. Why errors matter so much
Every mistake directly reduces your final net typing score. The notification does not mention a separate "allowed error percentage" or a maximum number of mistakes — it simply deducts mistakes from total typed words. So accuracy is not a side concern here; it is half the formula.
3. The typing test is qualifying only
The CPT is compulsory but its marks are not added to the final merit. Final merit is prepared from the written CBT marks. However, you must clear both parts of the CPT to remain eligible for document verification.
4. The Spreadsheet Test comes before typing
The CPT has two parts, and the order matters:
| Part | Test | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Part I | Spreadsheet Test | 10 marks · 10 minutes · minimum 4 marks required |
| Part II | English Typing / Word Processing | Minimum 30 WPM net speed |
5. Is the typing duration officially announced?
The notification gives the formula with division by 10 but does not separately state the Part-II typing duration in a clear line. Because the calculation divides by 10, practise with 10-minute typing tests for now, and confirm the exact timing and interface from the official SSSC demo/mock test and CPT instructions.
6. What the notification does NOT yet specify
Treat these as "wait for official confirmation" — do not assume from third-party sites:
- Exact typing-test duration (stated separately)
- Software / interface to be used
- Passage format and difficulty level
- Whether backspace, arrow keys, mouse, copy-paste are allowed
- The exact definition of one "mistake"
- Font, formatting, paragraph spacing and punctuation rules
- CPT date and city
The final authority is the official SSSC demo/mock test and your admit-card instructions.
7. Best preparation strategy
- Practise English typing 30–40 minutes daily.
- Take one timed 10-minute test every day.
- Accuracy first, then build speed.
- Track your gross words, mistakes and net WPM each session.
- Practise capitals, punctuation, commas, apostrophes, brackets, numbers and paragraphs.
- Use a full-size keyboard; avoid excessive backspace — type steadily.
- Target 350+ words with fewer than 10–15 mistakes in practice.
8. Spreadsheet preparation checklist
For Part I, prepare: basic data entry in rows and columns; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division; SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, MIN; sorting and basic formatting; cell references (A1, B2); percentage calculations; and copying formulas across cells. You only need 4/10, but aim for 7–8 so typing eligibility is never at risk.
9. Mock test and official updates
SSSC has stated an official demo/mock test link will be uploaded around 15 days before the exam. The CPT schedule appears only on the official SSSC website. The application deadline was extended to 9 July 2026, 4:00 PM (verify the current date on the portal).
