The Delhi High Court conducts a typing skill test for Junior Judicial Assistant (JJA), Senior Personal Assistant, Personal Assistant, Restorer and Group C clerical posts. Each notification draws lakhs of applicants for a few hundred seats, making accuracy under pressure critical.

Typing standard

You must type at 35 WPM in English in a 10-minute computer-based test. It is qualifying in nature โ€” you must clear the speed to advance.

Blind mode. The Delhi HC test shows no real-time error highlights โ€” the screen looks identical whether you typed correctly or made many mistakes. Net WPM is evaluated using the same penalty formula used across SSC and DSSSB. There is no second attempt on the day; your one 10-minute window decides it.

Stenographer note

For Stenographer Grade III and Personal Assistant posts, an additional shorthand dictation round at 80โ€“100 WPM applies. For JJA and most Group C posts, only the 35 WPM English typing test is required โ€” no shorthand.

How to prepare

  1. Train in blind mode โ€” build the reflex of reading the source passage, not watching for errors.
  2. Prioritise accuracy โ€” net-WPM penalties are unforgiving.
  3. Practise legal English passages for court vocabulary.
  4. Build to 40 WPM so 35 holds in a single high-pressure window.
