NVS Junior Secretariat Assistant Typing Test: Rules & Free Practice
The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) recruits Junior Secretariat Assistants with a computer typing test after the written exam. Here are the standards and how to clear them.
Updated for the current recruitment cycle · Reading time ~5 min · By the TypingTestExam team
The NVS Junior Secretariat Assistant post is filled by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) through a written examination followed by a computer typing skill test. The typing test is qualifying in nature — you must clear the speed, but marks are not added to merit.
Typing standard
You must type at 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi (10,500 / 9,000 key depressions per hour) in a 10-minute computer test. You choose the language.
This 35/30 WPM standard is the common DoPT norm shared by KVS, CSIR, NVS, EMRS, DDA and CBSE JSA posts — so practising for one prepares you for the others too.
How to prepare
Build to 40+ WPM English (or 33+ Hindi) so the bar is comfortable.
Keep accuracy high — errors reduce your net speed.
Hindi candidates: confirm the font/layout (commonly Mangal Inscript) from the notification and drill it.
Practise full 10-minute passages to build stamina.
Use the practice tool above — it loads the 35 WPM English / 30 Hindi target over 10 minutes.
