Official stenography pattern
The English passage contains 300 words dictated at 60 WPM for five minutes. Candidates then receive 30 minutes to transcribe on a computer. Pitman shorthand is required.
Official mistake calculation
Omissions, substitutions and additions are full mistakes. Spelling, singular/plural and lowercase sentence starts are half mistakes. Error percentage is (full mistakes + half mistakes ÷ 2) × 100 ÷ master words.
Permitted errors and CLT
The maximum is 10% for UR and 12% for reserved categories against notified vacancies. JPA candidates must also qualify the 75-minute, 100-mark Computer Literacy Test.
